Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s First-Ever Board Retreat: A New Chapter of Impact and Growth

On Saturday February 8th, 2025, we embarked on a significant milestone for the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund (LHSF)—our first-ever board retreat! It was an inspiring day filled with thoughtful discussions, meaningful connections, and strategic planning to shape the future of our organization.

We kicked off the retreat with a dynamic team-building activity, learning more about each other’s personal and professional backgrounds. This exercise reinforced the power of collaboration, helping us appreciate the unique strengths each board member brings to the table.

We were honored to have a guided expert leadership session with consultant, Ilhiana Rojas Saldana from BeLIVE Coaching and Consulting, lead our strategic planning efforts and facilitate a DISC assessment. Her expertise provided invaluable insights into our leadership styles, enhancing our ability to work effectively as a team and align our efforts with LHSF’s mission.

Defining Our Mission and Vision

A key discussion centered around our Mission—the core purpose and values that define LHSF. We asked ourselves: Why do we exist? Through heartfelt conversations, we reaffirmed our commitment to empowering Hispanic students through educational opportunities, mentorship, and community support.

Looking ahead, we envisioned where LHSF should be in the next 3–5 years. Our collective goal is to expand our reach, increase scholarship opportunities, and establish a sustainable network of support for students and alumni.

Our Roadmap for Impact

During the retreat, we explored the key principles and priorities that will guide LHSF’s growth and success. Through engaging discussions, we reaffirmed our commitment to equity, transparency, collaboration, and empowerment. We also outlined strategic initiatives aimed at expanding scholarship opportunities, strengthening mentorship programs, fostering community partnerships, and improving internal processes.

To ensure accountability, we discussed methods to track our progress and measure success. Over the coming weeks, we will refine these strategies and share the final results, providing a clear framework to drive our mission forward.

Committees in Action

As part of the retreat, we dedicated time for committee discussions. Over a delicious Mexican lunch, we brainstormed innovative ideas and action plans tailored to each committee’s role. From fundraising strategies to outreach efforts, every board member left with clear objectives and renewed enthusiasm.

Looking Ahead

The energy and dedication displayed during this retreat reaffirmed our shared mission. As we move forward, we are excited to implement our strategic goals, strengthen our impact, and continue empowering Hispanic students on their educational journeys.

This retreat was just the beginning. Stay tuned as we put our plans into action and make a lasting difference in the lives of the students we serve. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, passion, and ideas—together, we are building a brighter future!

We asked our Board of Directors to describe the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and their words were nothing short of magical. 🌟 See for yourself!
